Building a Network – Establishing a Base

Awareness about gender differences is growing and many schools are looking at single gender education as a potential way to utilize this awareness. NASSPE Southeast Regional Conference is the first opportunity in the southeast for educators to come together and build a network of individuals and schools in order to establish a solid base from which to grow. Come be a part of the process and join the base!

Keynote by Cheryl Hanna, Professor of Law at Vermont Law School and national expert on the Constitution and Gender Issues, will speak on "The Legal and Political Challenges Facing Public Funded Single Gender Education." Dr. Hanna will look at new regulations as well as strategies for building support for single gender programs.

Concurrent Sessions to include recent research from single gender programs, teaching strategies that apply gender differences in the classrooms, and classroom management practices that are informed by gender differences.

Roundtable Discussions by subject area for all teachers to network and collaborate

Hotel Arrangements: A block of rooms are being held at hotels near Richland Northeast High School. There are several additional hotels near high school. A shuttle will run between area hotels and Richland Northeast High School.

Cost: $95.00 (includes conference registration, Friday night reception and lunch on Saturday).

Pre-Conference: $25.00 (with lunch) Friday, October 6 at TWO Academies at Dent Middle School. Come observe classes, talk with teachers, meet with student and parent focus groups. 8:30 - 2:00. Due to school construction we will arrange a parking area and shuttle for the day.
