January 13/14, Grand Coteau, LA:  Dr. Sax spoke to parents (1/13), and led a two-day workshop for teachers, hosted by the Academy of the Sacred Heart.  This workshop was attended by educators from across south Louisiana as well as from Texas.

January 15, Shreveport, LA:  Dr. Sax returned to Caddo Parish to lead an additional day of professional development workshops for public school teachers there.

January 19, Red Deer, Alberta: Dr. Sax provided a full-day workshop for public school teachers, on gender-specific best practice for the content areas, sponsored by the Central Alberta Regional Consortium, www.carcpd.ab.ca.

January 21, Toronto, Ontario:  Dr. Sax gave the opening keynote address for a conference of the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association, www.opsba.org.

 

February 8, Paget, Bermuda:  Dr. Sax spoke at Bermuda College to public school counselors and administrators about sex differences in the propensity to delinquent behavior:  girls and boys both get into trouble, but they get into different kinds of trouble.

February 8/9, Devonshire, Bermuda:  Dr. Sax spoke to more than 600 parents (2/8), and led a full-day workshop for teachers from various schools (2/9), hosted by Somersfield Academy.

February 20, Houston, TX:  Dr. Sax led a full-day conference on gender-specific best practice for public schools; this conference was attended by educators from across Texas as well as from Kansas and Nevada.

February 20, Houston, TX:  Dr. Sax spoke to doctors from Methodist Hospital about “Plastic Girls and Brittle Boys:  endocrine disruptors and why they matter.”

 

March 18 – 19, Rochester, NY:  Dr. Sax spoke to parents (3/18) and led a full-day workshop for teachers (3/19), at McQuaid Jesuit School.

March 27, Towson, MD:  Dr. Sax led a workshop on sex differences in speech pathology and in hearing, for the annual conference of the Maryland Speech & Hearing Association.

 

April 13 – 14, Los Angeles, CA:  Dr. Sax led a two-day workshop on gender-specific best practice, for teachers at the Young Oak Kim Academy, a public charter school; he also spoke to parents (4/13).

April 16, North St. Paul, MN:  Dr. Sax spoke to school administrators about how to broaden educational horizons and to break down gender stereotypes.  He also visited Carver Elementary, a local public school.

April 16, St. Paul, MN:   Dr. Sax spoke at Macalester College about “Boys Adrift and Girls on the Edge:  why more and more boys are goofballs, and more and more girls are anxious.”

April 17, Mahtomedi, MN:  Dr. Sax led a full-day workshop for teachers, presenting gender-specific best practice for the content areas in grades K – 12.

April 18, Mahtomedi, MN:  Dr. Sax gave a presentation at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church on “The Maiden King:  recent research on gender differences in the spiritual needs of children and teenagers.”

April 29, New Paltz, NY:  Dr. Sax led two workshops for guidance counselors from public schools across the Hudson Valley.

June 3, Jamestown, ND:  Dr. Sax was a keynote speaker for a statewide conference hosted jointly by the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction and by the North Dakota Department of Health.  He also led two breakout sessions, on “Boys Adrift” and “Girls on the Edge.”

June 17, Madison, WI:  Dr. Sax gave the keynote address for a conference on “Girls and boys at risk,” sponsored by the Gender Studies Project at the University of Wisconsin Madison, www.dcs.wisc.edu/pda/boysandgirls/index.html.  He also led a breakout session on the topic of “girls on the edge.”

June 21 – 22, Washington DC:  Dr. Sax led a two-day training workshop for District of Columbia Public Schools; he also spoke to parents (6/21).

 

July 22, Melbourne, Australia:  Dr. Sax will lead events at Korowa Anglican Girls’ School.

July 26/27, Christchurch, New Zealand:  Dr. Sax will lead events for students, teachers, and parents, at Rangi Ruru Girls’ School.

July 29/30, Sydney, Australia:  Dr. Sax will lead events at the Ascham School.

 

August 2/3, Perth, Australia:  Dr. Sax will lead workshops for teachers at MLC, www.mlc.wa.edu.au; he will also lead an evening forum for parents.

August 5, Auckland, New Zealand:  Dr. Sax will lead events at St. Cuthbert’s College.

August 16, Columbus, Ohio:  Dr. Sax will lead a full-day workshop for public school teachers.

August 26, Washington DC:  Dr. Sax will lead a full-day workshop for teachers at Imagine Southeast Public Charter School; that evening, he will speak to parents.

August 30, Guelph, Ontario:  Dr. Sax will give a keynote address, and lead breakout sessions, on gender difference in education, at a conference hosted by the Upper Grand District School Board.

 

September 24, St. Louis, MO:  Dr. Sax will return to the Imagine Academy of Academic Success to lead a third day of professional development.

September 27, Fort Yates, ND:  Dr. Sax will lead a workshop on the importance of gender differences in child and adolescent development, with emphasis on the experience of Native American children and teenagers.  This workshop will be hosted by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.

September 29, Ottawa, Ontario: Dr. Sax will lead workshops for teachers, as well as an evening forum for parents, at the Elmwood School.

 

October 9 – 10, Las Vegas, NV: Dr. Sax will host the sixth international conference of the National Association for Single Sex Public Education.

October 14, New York, NY:  Dr. Sax will lead a full-day workshop on gender issues in education, as well as an evening forum for parents, at the Grace Church School.

October 19, Greenwich, CT:  Dr. Sax will speak to students, lead a workshop for teachers, and meet with parents, at the Stanwich School.

October 20, Bryn Mawr, PA:  Dr. Sax will lead a workshop for teachers at the Agnes Irwin School; in the evening, he will speak to parents.

October 22, Halifax, Nova Scotia:  Dr. Sax will lead workshops at a provincial education conference, on gender differences in best practice for the content areas.

October 26, Minneapolis, MN:  Dr. Sax will lead a full-day workshop on “Boys Adrift and Girls on the Edge.”

October 27, Rochester, MN:  Dr. Sax will lead a full-day workshop on “Why Gender Matters.” Both these events – in Minneapolis and in Rochester – are sponsored by the Minnesota Youth Intervention Programs Association, www.mnyipa.org. 

 

November 1, Mississauga, Ontario:  Dr. Sax will return to Mississauga, once again as the guest of the Peel District School Board, to lead a full-day workshop for school counselors and social workers, as well as an evening presentation for parents.

November 3, Lake Forest, IL:  Dr. Sax will speak to students, and lead events for teachers and for parents, at the Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart.

November 11, Madison, WI:  Dr. Sax will keynote a conference at the University of Wisconsin Extension, www.uwex.edu, speaking about “Sex, Drugs, and Too Much Texting” as well leading a breakout session on “Girls on the Edge.”

November 12, St. Louis, MO:  Dr. Sax will return to the Imagine Academy of Academic Success to lead a fourth day of professional development.

November 15 – 16, Sonoma, CA:  Dr. Sax will lead a two-day workshop for teachers on gender-specific best practice in the classroom.

November 17, Princeton Junction, NJ:  Dr. Sax will speak to parents about the importance of understanding gender differences.

November 29, Austin, TX:  Dr. Sax will lead a workshop for teachers, and speak to parents, at St. Stephen’s School.

 

December 6, Greenwich, CT:  Dr. Sax will speak at the Convent of the Sacred Heart.

December 8, Columbus, OH:  Dr. Sax will lead the first day of a three-day “strand” of professional development (to be continued February 9 and May 11, 2011) for teachers with Columbus Public Schools.
